Mock drawing

I have also miss spelled the Masthead as other people are using the same name for their magazine.

This is the mock design for my final school magazine front cover. It has the cover lines and pictures on the left side of the page so that they can be read by other people when the magazine is open and being read. This advertises the magazine without the company paying any extra money.
The strapline at the top of the page is usually the first part of the magazine seen by customers so it advertises the fact that the magazine is new to make it seem more interesting and adventurous. The “Melbourne Messenger” Masthead is at the top of the page, under the Strapline, this is because customers should know what the magazine is so they know if they should keep reading or not.
The Shocking Results screamer is the second moist emphasized thing on the page after the Masthead, it is not clear about whether the results are good or bad, making the viewer want to read on to find out.  It is split into two colours initially to make it easier to read but it also adds to the unique look of the cover.
Lastly the footer shows the issue number, date. It also includes the price as this is the last thing the customer should read.

Magazine Layout Skeletons

Front Cover Skeleton 1

The first front cover skeleton follows the pattern of many other magazines that I have reviewed. It has the cover lines and pictures on the left side of the page so that they can be read by people when the magazine is open and being read. This advertises the magazine without the company paying any extra money. The strapline at the top of the page is usually the first part of the magazine seen by customers so it has enough space to deliver a selling line. The Masthead is at the top of the page, under the Strapline, this is because customers should know what the magazine is so they know if they should keep reading or not. The screamer is the second moist emphasized thing on the page after the Masthead. It should persuade customers to read the magazine. Lastly the footer will show the issue number, date. It will also include the price as this is the last thing the customer should read.

Front Cover Skeleton 2

The second skeleton has some differences compared to the first. The Masthead has been swapped with the screamer as these articles seem more exiting and important. There is also a selling line in the top left corner to attract customers, this also basically doubles the amount of information that can be shown in the strapline making the top, which is usually the first part read by the customer, more attractive.

Front Cover Skeleton 3

In the third skeleton the cover lines and pictures are on the right instead, however this means that they wont advertise the magazine to others when being read. Other from this the design is very similar to the first front cover skeleton.

Contents Page Skeleton

The contents page should show off as many articles as possible, I have tried to do this by putting as many pictures of articles on the right side followed by a caption that explains the article. This should make these articles seem more attractive. I have also places a picture of the front cover at the bottom of the page, this should emphasize the articles that are being advertised on the front cover.  This pic is surrounded by further article advertisements that will, again, make the articles seem more attractive to read.

Double Page Spread

The double page spread uses many different methods to make the articles look more interesting and readable. Nearly the whole of the left page is a picture that sums up the first article; this makes it easier to see if the article is worth reading. This is followed by the intro of the article that should get the user into the subject of the article and make it worth reading. The right page shows the main article followed by a smaller article to make the pages up. They both include pictures to make them more visually pleasing and show off the article topic.

Photo Schedule

Photo schedule - 17/18th September
I will take pictures George Childs from a mid shot to be the main image of the front cover. He will be wearing a suit and tie to look presentable and show off the Melbourne attitude.

I plan to take pictures of the new canteen food from close macro shots and mid shots showing all the food on the shelves.

I will take a picture of Nick Mcree acting as though he has just received his GCSE results. He will be happy and smiling in the picture.

Email conformation to Nick
